My First Blog


    Blog Introduction  

     My name is Louisa, I am a sophomore at UAF. I was born in Colombia but moved to Alaska 6 years ago. My first language is Spanish, and I am still learning English. In my free time I like to draw and listen to music. To be honest, I haven't had the opportunity to learn about paintings. That's why I chose this class so I could learn more about art.

    I chose this painting because I think it's a peaceful painting. I love the colors in the painting. To be honest, my favorite color is blue. This painting has a lot of blue color which brings a lot of peace to me.


    My relationship with art dates back to when I was little. I always loved to draw and paint little figures, but over time the way I drew changed. Now I draw things like animated figures or anything I find interesting. I had art classes when I was in high school and I also had another drawing class in college. One of the things that I find difficult, that I have always had difficulties with, is faces. It is very difficult for me to draw portraits, although I would like to learn more about drawing portraits. I have several works of art that I made when I took the drawing class, and I like to draw in my free time. I have not had the opportunity to attend the First Fridays. I would love to go to an art museum but I have never had the opportunity to attend one.

    Your first-hand experiences in art will serve you well for this course. If you at UAF, go to the Museum of the North. The 2nd story is an art gallery.

    Starry Night is one of my favorites. Last year I visited the UAF Museum. It had some amazing art. I showed my student ID and got in free. If you go before April 24th there is an exhibit about maps and sketches https://www.uaf.edu/museum/exhibits/special-exhibits/thinkingmadevisible/ . First Fridays are not what they used to be.

    I also chose Starry Night as my piece of art for the first blog post, I think it is pretty, and was the first one that came to mind. I think it is cool that you draw, I never was too good at anything artistic like drawing or painting.
